In August 2019 all City of Cincinnati departments worked collaboratively within a selected area of the East Price Hill Warsaw Avenue Neighborhood Business District for 90 days through the Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP). The NEP focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents, eliminating blight, and increasing safety in a community. At the beginning of the 90 days, City staff and community partners received a community wish list that focused on resolving issues around pedestrian safety, blighted properties, crime, and beautification of public spaces. These items were addressed by the City and partners throughout the NEP; ending in November 2019.
One of the 4 signature projects, dreamt up by the community, was Light Up Warsaw. Light Up Warsaw is a creative placemaking project that added exterior lighting to 10 buildings/public spaces along Warsaw Avenue. These lights highlight the buildings’ unique architectural features as well as increase the safety of these spaces by introducing more light into the space. Each building and place are distinctive; some spaces feature bright white lights, some buildings utilize color, and some lights change colors throughout the year. Price Hill Will spearheaded this project with support and in partnership with the City of Cincinnati, the East Price Hill Improvement Association, the Price Hill Safety Community Action Team, and other community partners to make the NEP a success!
